Seoul, South Korea, November 23, 2019 – In South Korea, the Suneung (also known as College Scholastic Ability Test or CSAT) is the single biggest determinant of high-school students prospects for college. In 2018, more than half a million students undertook this exam that is as competitive as it is grueling. Time Education is the largest education institute in South Korea with more than 250,000 K-12 students enrolled, and prepping students for the Suneung is one of their biggest priorities. To this end, Time Education looks for innovative technology solutions that lead to student achievement.
One consequence of the performance pressure that comes along with CSAT is the endless practice that students put in so that they gain mastery over concepts, particularly over Math problems. This buckshot approach that teachers take with their students leads to burnout and in some cases, decline in performance. Using KAIT, teachers at Time Education were able to take a highly efficient approach towards CSAT preparation and achieve significant performance gains in only 3 weeks.
By accurately identifying the weaknesses of individual students using data and then strengthening those pain points through AI-generated practice, an average score improvement of 41% was observed among the students in the study compared to their baseline performance. It was further observed that 43% of the students improved their score by 50% or more, while only less than a third saw no significant score improvement.
